Liverpool are pursuing Real Madrid youngster Dani Ceballos ahead of a potential summer move, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Spanish midfielder has struggled for game time following his move from Real Betis to Real Madrid last year, making just two league starts.
Two goals in 187 minutes of La Liga action is a respectable return for the 21-year-old, but a lack of regular time on the pitch is hindering his development.
Real Betis had hoped to re-sign Ceballos in January, but having already registered the midfielder back in July, their hands were tied as Spanish regulations forbids a team from registering a player twice in the same season.
Competition for his signature would be fierce considering Ceballos’ talent and potential, but Liverpool are hoping to win the race to sign the young Spaniard.
Indeed, the Reds view Ceballos as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who secured his big money move to Barcelona last month having been heavily linked with a return to Spain last summer.
