Dortmund star earns perfect WhoScored rating in Bundesliga Team of the Week

Borussia Dortmund’s title pursuit has been admirable this season even though they look like they will finish just short in Bayern Munich’s shadow. Thomas Tuchel’s men have pushed the Bavarian giants the whole way in his first season in charge of BVB and some of their players have taken their games to whole new levels this season.

One of those is Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whose consistent performances have arguably somewhat flown under the radar among other players in Europe this season. The Armenia international is currently the sixth highest rated player across Europe’s top five leagues in WhoScored.com’s rankings (7.93 rating) and this weekend saw the 27-year-old turn in another match winning performance for Tuchel’s side.

The Dortmund No.10 scored his 11th league goal of the campaign and registered his 13th assist in a comfortable 3-0 win over Stuttgart on Saturday to ensure Bayern’s coronation as Bundesliga champions for a fourth successive season was delayed a further week. Not only that, but Mkhitaryan completed eight dribbles, created four clear-cut chances and made six successful tackles and interceptions combined.

His WhoScored Man of the Match Award was his 11th for the campaign, which only Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi (both 12) have won more of this season across Europe’s top leagues. The Armenian wideman has also now played a direct hand in nine goals in his last eight matches in all competitions for Dortmund (four goals, five assists).
