Manchester United and Tottenham set to miss out on PSV star
Premier League pair Manchester United and Tottenham are set to be disappointed in their bid to secure PSV sensation Hirving Lozano, with Napoli leading the race to sign the Mexican, reports TEAMtalk via Calciomercato.
Lozano has established himself as one of the finest talents outside of Europe’s top five leagues and his wonderful Eredivisie form has seen him linked with a move to United and Tottenham, while Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal have previously courted the PSV forward.
The 23-year-old shot to prominence at last summer’s World Cup and has remained a regular feature on teams’ radars over the last 12 months.
However, potential suitors are set to miss out on Lozano, with reports in Italy suggesting a €40m transfer has been agreed that will see the winger join Napoli in the summer.
Lozano has scored 17 goals and registered eight assists for title chasing PSV this season to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.84, that the sixth best in the Eredivisie.
United had hoped to sign Lozano to provide further competition for a starting spot on the frontline, while Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is eager to add another forward to the squad and it’s seen Spurs linked with a move for AC Milan’s Patrick Cutrone.
