Inter eye surprise move for Manchester United veteran
Inter are interested in signing Manchester United veteran Ashley Young on a free transfer next summer, claims The Daily Mirror.
Young has entered the final six months of his current United deal and is free to secure a Bosman transfer to foreign sides.
The 33-year-old’s future at Old Trafford is up in the air following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal before Christmas.
United have only offered Young another 12-month deal, while Inter are reportedly willing to hand the former England international a two-year contract.
Inter wanted to sign Matteo Darmian from United but have switched their focus to Young after being told the Italy international will cost £15m.
Young has reinvented himself at United in the last few years, transforming into a dependable full-back after making his name as a tricky winger earlier in his career.
The defender has started 42 of United’s last 58 Premier League matches, making a further three appearances from the bench.
Young has played a direct hand in nine goals (three goals, six assists) in that time.
