Crystal Palace to launch fresh bid for Besiktas forward

Crystal Palace will launch a fresh bid for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in January, reports the Croydon Advertiser.

The Eagles are the only team in the top four tiers of English football yet to score a league goal this season.

Injury to Christian Benteke also rocked Palace, who will be without their star forward for the best part of a month still.

Tosun was heavily linked with a move to Selhurst Park over the summer, though Palace failed to agree a fee with Besiktas for the Turkey international.

However, Palace will now have to spend big to convince the Super Lig champions to sell, with Besiktas slapping a €25m price tag on the 26-year-old’s head having chipped in with four goals and two assists in all competitions this season.

Tottenham and Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Tosun, though Palace are hoping to renew negotiations with Besiktas over the striker’s potential arrival when the January transfer window opens.

Palace currently sit five points adrift of safety after losing their opening seven games of the season and welcome Chelsea to south London after the international break.
