West Brom bid £4.5m for Inter defender

West Brom have made a €5m (£4.5m) move for Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia, reports The Sun.

Ranocchia is surplus to requirements at Inter and is free to leave the Italian giants this summer after being farmed out on loan last season.

The 29-year-old joined Hull in January on a temporary deal until the end of last season but failed to help steer the club clear of relegation, but is now on the radar of a few Premier League clubs including newly-promoted Huddersfield.

However, West Brom are the favourites to sign the Italian centre-back, who would have signed a £90,000-a-week deal with Hull if they beat the drop, as Tony Pulis’ side fend off interest in Jonny Evans and Craig Dawson.

Ranocchia made a positive impression at Hull but will likely be remembered for his role in the club’s penultimate game of the season that saw them relegated following a 4-1 defeat away to Crystal Palace.

The experienced defender was directly at fault for Palace’s opener after just three minutes and was hooked at half-time by manager Marco Silva. Prior to that, he scored two goals and registered two assists in 16 appearances for the Tigers.
