Liverpool join race to sign Bundesliga star

Liverpool have entered the race to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, reports BILD.

Goretzka’s is due to make a decision on his future next month when he will only have six months left on his current Schalke deal.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have all been heavily linked with the Germany international and now Liverpool are ready to lock horns with their European rivals.

Liverpool have already beaten Manchester City to Virgil Van Dijk’s signature this week and now they are looking to do so again with Goretzka.

Schalke are desperate to convince Goretzka to stay at the club and their current contract offer is far more than what Liverpool would be prepared to pay.

Liverpool have already taken Joel Matip from Schalke on a Bosman transfer in the past and Goretzka would be the second, in addition to RB Leipzig star Naby Keita joining at the end of the season.

In the last three Bundesliga campaigns, only Kevin Kampl (264) has won possession in the middle third more times than Goretzka (255).
