Borussia Dortmund target signs new deal

Hertha Berlin have announced sought after defender Niklas Stark has put pen to paper on a new long term deal keeping him at the club until 2022.

Stark, 21, has enjoyed a hugely impressive campaign in the Bundesliga this season and his performances had seen him linked with a summer move to Dortmund.

However, Hertha have recognised this and successfully moved to tie down his long-term future, handing him a three-year extension to his original deal that was due to expire in 2019.

“Getting this done early is a sign of how much I feel at home here at Hertha BSC and in Berlin,” Stark told the club’s official website.

“The club has put a tremendous amount of trust in me and I very much want to continue my development here.”

Only Mainz 05 defender Stefan Bell (18) and Andreas Christensen (17) have blocked more shots in the Bundesliga this season than Stark (16).
