United midfielder on the radar of Serie A giants

AC Milan and Inter are interested in making a January move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to The Daily Mail.

Fellaini, 29, has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford almost as soon as he joined from Everton in 2013 and was spotted in Milan on Monday fuelling speculation a move away could be imminent.

The Belgium international was booed by United supporters during their 1-0 win over Tottenham after he gave away a penalty in the last minute of their 1-1 draw with Everton the week prior and he has reportedly already discussed a move to Italy with some of his teammates.

Given the delay in Milan’s takeover, it seems unlikely Vincenzo Montella will have funds available to sign anyone in January, let alone a player of Fellaini’s expense, which would seemingly give Inter the advantage in the race for his signature.

Fellaini only has 18 months remaining on his existing deal and United are not prepared to offer him a new deal and are open to selling him in January rather than loan him out until the end of the season with a view to making the deal permanent.

In the last six Premier League seasons Fellaini has committed at least 48 more fouls than any other player (324).
