Inter will offer Ivan Perisic a new contract if Manchester United fail to match their €55m (£49.3m) valuation, reports Mediaset Premium, via Football Italia.
Jose Mourinho has identified Perisic as a top transfer target this summer but talks between United and Inter have gone cooled since the Serie A giants left for their pre-season tour of China earlier this month.
United hoped to conclude a deal for Perisic before he flew to Asia and it remains to be seen whether they will come back with an improved after their last offer of £44m was unsuccessful.
Inter head coach Luciano Spaletti has always maintained his desire to keep the Croatia international and the Serie A giants will look to reward the 28-year-old with an improved deal if he stays, despite the fact his current contract isn’t due to expire until 2020.
No player created more clear-cut opportunities in Serie A last season than Perisic (16). However, of players that scored at least 10 Serie A goals last term, Perisic had the worst conversion rate (10.6%).
