England international signs new long-term deal at Tottenham

Tottenham have announced Kieran Trippier has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until June 2022.

Trippier will be given the chance to assert himself as Tottenham’s starting right-back next season after Mauricio Pochettino’s side sold Kyle Walker to rivals Manchester City for a record-breaking £54m.

The 26-year-old finished last season ahead of Walker in the pecking order at White Hart Lane and even forced his way into the reckoning with Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Tottenham are keen to prevent a summer exodus and have now rewarded Trippier, who has spent most of the last two years on the bench, with a new long-term deal at the club.

No defender registered more assists than Trippier in the Premier League last season (5), despite the fact he only made 12 appearances.
