Chelsea have entered negotiations with Serie A giants Inter for the transfer of £31m-rated midfielder Matias Vecino, claims the London Evening Standard.
The west London outfit have only signed Jorginho and Rob Green this summer and new boss Maurizio Sarri wants more new faces before the season starts.
Chelsea emerged as suitors for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey over the weekend but the Gunners remain confident he will sign a new deal with the club.
The Premier League giants are keeping their options open and have now earmarked Vecino as a potential transfer target.
Vecino only moved to Inter from Fiorentina 12 months ago in a deal worth €24m but Luciano Spalletti's side stand to make a healthy profit on the midfielder.
The 26-year-old started all five of Uruguay’s matches at the 2018 World Cup, while making 29 league appearances for Inter during his maiden campaign for the club.
Vecino was mainly deployed in a deep-lying midfield two for Inter last term, but still managed to weigh in with three goals and two assists during the course of the campaign.
