Inter interested in six-month deal for Gerrard

Inter are interested in offering Steven Gerrard the chance to finish his career in Italy with a surprise six-month deal, according to The Independent.

Gerrard will leave LA Galaxy when his contract expires in December and it remains to be seen whether the former England captain will continue playing or retire and try his hand at management.

The 36-year-old has already been in contact with managerless League One strugglers MK Dons about becoming their new manager, but Gerrard could be given the chance to continue his playing career should Inter step up their interest in his services.

Gerrard has been on Inter’s radar since October before Frank de Boer was sacked as manager just three months into the job, but it remains to be seen whether new manager Stefano Pioli would sign off on the deal.

However, the new Inter boss may not have a choice as Inter’s interest reportedly stems from boardroom level as their new Chinese owners look to bring in big names to the squad.

There has been heavy investment in Inter’s midfield in the last two seasons but most of their big name signings have failed to live up to expectation and now Gerrard could be signed in January on a deal until the end of the season to help them re-gain some credibility this season.

Gerrard left little impression on MLS in his two years at the club, but he did finish the last campaign having registered at least four more assists than any other player at the club (9).
