RB Leipzig have contacted Liverpool and informed the Premier League giants star midfielder Naby Keita is not for sale at any price, reports The Daily Mail.
Keita has been earmarked as a top transfer target by Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are even prepared to break their club-transfer record for a second time this summer to land the box-to-box midfielder.
Leipzig have always maintained their star man is not for sale as they gear up for their first season in the Champions League and that no amount of money would convince them otherwise.
Klopp’s side look to be fighting a losing battle even if Keita is open to the idea of joining Liverpool this summer, as Leipzig have only hardened on their stance on the Guinea international.
The 22-year-old reportedly has a £56m release clause in his current deal that will become active next summer but Liverpool want to avoid running the risk of losing Keita to a rival side.
Keita was arguably one of the best players in the Bundesliga last season and would transform Liverpool into genuine title contenders. The all-action midfielder played a direct hand in 15 goals (eight goals, seven assists) in 31 league appearances last term.
Not only that, but only Nabil Bentaleb (9) completed more accurate through balls than the Leipzig No.8 (7) and only Ousmane Dembele (103) completed more dribbles than Keita (83) in Germany's top-flight last term.
