Premier League suitors miss out as Cancelo completes Inter move

Joao Cancelo has completed a loan move to Inter from Valencia as part of an agreement that had already seen midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia head in the opposite direction, the club have confirmed.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of interest of a number of clubs this summer but it is the Nerazzurri that have won the race for the Portugal international’s signature.

He arrives on an initial loan deal with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season and will add real versatility to the Inter ranks.

Capable of playing in any position down the right flank, Cancelo has thrived when fielded further forward having originally settled into the los Che side at full-back.

The youngster made an emotional farewell appearance for Valencia at the weekend, helping the side to an opening day victory over Las Palmas and earning a place in WhoScored.com’s first La Liga team of the week of the new campaign with a rating of 7.55.
