Inter's pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder hinges on Perisic future

Inter manager Antonio Conte hopes to land Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso this summer, claims Calciomercato.

Tolisso is deemed surplus to requirements by the Bundesliga outfit following an injury-hit campaign and is still ruled out for a further two months.

Conte has identified Tolisso as having the ideal profile to bolster his midfield options for the 2020/21 campaign but a deal hinges on whether Inter can offload Ivan Perisic permanently.

Perisic joined Bayern on a season-long loan deal in August and was making great strides for the club before breaking his ankle in training at the start of Feburary.

Inter's hopes of Bayern making Perisic's stay permanent seemed to end there and then with the 31-year-old expected to miss the remainder of the season.

However, the outbreak of COVID-19 has seen no football in the Bundesliga in nearly six weeks and Perisic should now be able to play a part in the season run-in when it is safe to return.

The Bundesliga are hoping to resume the 2019/20 campaign on May 9 and are awaiting government approval to get the go ahead.

Prior to injury, Perisic had played a direct hand in seven goals in his first 15 league appearances for the Bavarians (four goals, three assists).

Perisic's return is impressive when you consider he has only started nine games in that time but he has also missed all six clear-cut chances presented to him this season.

In fact, no player has missed more clear-cut goalscoring chances without converting a single one in the Bundesliga this season.
