Liverpool are interested in making an audacious January move for Arsenal forward Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, according to The Guardian.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen his squad in January to help sustain their Premier League title challenge and, with Sadio Mane set for Africa Cup of Nations duty next month, another forward could be signed.
The Liverpool manager is a fan of Oxlade-Chamberlain and the Reds could even step up their interest in the versatile forward next month if there is potential to prize him away from the Emirates.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger isn’t likely to entertain any offers for the 23-year-old, particularly at the hallway point of the season and to a direct rival. However, with 18 months left on his existing deal, Arsenal may have to make a decision on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future sooner rather than later.
The England international has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular since joining from Southampton in 2011, but there has been an improvement in his performances this season even if he has only started eight league games thus far.
With four assists to his name, only Alexis Sanchez (6) has registered more for Arsenal in the Premier League this season.
