Coutinho snubs Tottenham move

Philippe Coutinho has turned down a season-long loan move to Premier League side Tottenham, claims the London Evening Standard.

Barcelona are keen to offload Coutinho this summer just 18 months after paying £142m to sign the Brazil international from Liverpool.

The Spanish champions are even prepared to send Coutinho out on loan for the season and are hoping to agree a deal with a Premier League side.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have all withdrawn their interest in Coutinho in the last week to leave Tottenham with a free run at the 27-year-old.

Mauricio Pochettino worked with Coutinho during his time as Espanyol manager in 2012 but the Tottenham manager could not convince the Brazilian to join.

Barcelona want to remove Coutinho’s wages from their books in order to facilitate a stunning deal to re-sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain but that has taken a huge hit.

Coutinho has managed just 13 goals and seven assists in 52 league appearances for Barcelona.
