The agent of Lautaro Martinez has claimed Barcelona are interested in signing the Inter striker.
Barcelona are in the middle of plotting a hugely expensive overhaul of their offensive options with both Neymar and Antoine Griezmann on the club’s radar.
The LaLiga champions are expected to wrap up a €120m deal for Griezmann by the end of the week before turning their attention to re-signing Neymar.
However, it is now claimed that Barcelona are also interested in prising Martinez away from Serie A outfit Inter.
“The rumours of Barcelona’s interest are true,” his agent, Alberto Yaque, told Como te va, via AS.
“Nobody has called us but we know there was a deep study done. It is true that Barcelona are keen on him.”
Martinez was as a bright point of Argentina’s failed Copa America campaign this summer but his future at Inter is unclear.
Inter only signed the 21-year-old from Argentine outfit Racing Club last year but it remains to be seen where he fits into new manager Antonio Conte’s plans.
The Serie A outfit have already confirmed Mauro Icardi is free to leave and Conte wants to sign Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku and Roma veteran Edin Dzeko.
Martinez made 27 league appearances in his maiden campaign for Inter, though only 13 of those were starts after struggling to usurp Icardi in the pecking order.
The Argentina international managed six goals and two assists in that time. Furthermore, of players that made at least 15 Serie A appearances in 2018/19, Martinez ranked fifth for most shots per 90 (4.4).
