Liverpool plot shock move for Chelsea midfielder

Liverpool will rival Manchester United for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas this summer, reports The Sun.

Fabregas has dropped down the pecking order at Chelsea under Antonio Conte this season and his first-team chances will be limited further next season with new midfielders to be signed this summer.

The Spain international didn’t appear to have any sort of future at Stamford Bridge at the start of the season but has worked hard to get into contention under Conte, although it still seems unlikely he will feature prominently in the coming years under the Italian.

Fabregas was subject of interest from AC Milan in January but the 29-year-old may yet remain in the Premier League, albeit at Liverpool or United.

Jose Mourinho brought Fabregas to Chelsea in 2015 and is reportedly keen on a reunion with the central midfielder at Old Trafford, although will face stiff competition from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Despite only starting 10 Premier League matches this season, Fabregas has still played a part in 13 goals this season. In fact, of players that have registered at least three assists in the Premier League this season, Fabregas requires the fewest minutes per assist (1 every 116.2 minutes).
