Arsenal target set to snub Premier League for Madrid move

Alexandre Lacazette is closing in on a big money move to Atletico Madrid according to The Mirror, having previously had offers from both Arsenal and West Ham.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that the star striker will be allowed to leave the club this summer having rebuffed bids in the region of £40m last year. The 25-year old has had yet another notable season in France, scoring 26 league goals as well as a further seven in Europe.

Atletico’s interest comes amidst strong speculation that Antoine Griezmann will leave the Madrid outfit this summer, with Manchester United thought to be leading the race for his signature.

With Fernando Torres also set to depart at the end of his contract, the Champions League semi-finalists will be short of options in attack, with Lacazette tipped to be their leading man next season.

It comes as a blow to Arsenal fans, who had hoped that the club would return with a bid this summer, but Lacazette has made Champions League football a priority next season, with the Gunners looking set to miss out.
