Gotze should reject Liverpool switch, says Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski has urged Bayern Munich teammate Mario Gotze to reject the chance to move to Liverpool, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Germany has been strongly linked with a summer switch to Anfield having failed to make his mark for the Bavarian giants following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
Gotze has struggled for game time and form and is widely expected to depart the Allianz Arena at the end of the season.
However, despite a possible reunion with former manager and current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp on the cards, Lewandowski has urged Gotze to turn down a transfer away from Munich.
“Mario proved during the international break that he is always capable of showing what he can do and that he is a great player," the Poland international said
“He should not be reading what people say about him in the papers. He does not need all the extra pressure.
“Mario knows how to deal with it, though. He is used to it. It is silly that there is so much talk about him.
“He is a Bayern player and he has plenty of games left until the end of the season to prove that he is good enough for Bayern.
“He has plenty of time to prove his critics wrong. He should stay at Bayern for a long time because he is a great player.”
Despite being linked with a move away from the defending Bundesliga champions, Gotze is tipped to delay making a decision on his future until he has spoken with incoming Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti.
