Former Chelsea midfielder closes in on Inter move

Inter are hopeful of signing former Chelsea midfielder Ramires on loan from Jiangsu Suning in January for the remainder of the season, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ramires has spent nearly two years in China since completing a £25m move from Chelsea to Suning in January 2016 but has been tipped for a return to Europe in the new year.

The 30-year-old could follow in the footsteps of Paulinho to trade in the Chinese Super League for one of Europe’s biggest clubs, proving that the Far East does not kill your career prospects.

Inter, whom the Suning Commerce Group owns, are favourites to sign the Brazilian on loan in January but Ramires is reportedly waiting to see if any other European clubs step forward with an interest before making a decision on his future.

Ramires has been in decent form for Suning, who are managed by former England manager Fabio Capello, this season, but they are currently only two places above the relegation zone.

No Suning player has played a direct hand in more league goals than Ramires (10) this season.
