Barcelona enter race for Arsenal target

Barcelona have entered the race to sign Arsenal target Jean Michael Seri from Nice, according to Mundo Deportivo via the Metro.

The Ivory Coast international has become one of the most sought after midfield talents on the continent on the back of a stunning season for Nice.

Roma were thought to have won the race to secure Seri’s signature, but the move broke down as the two teams failed to agree a fee for the player.

Arsenal have been monitoring Seri closely for most of the summer, yet could face stiff competition from Barcelona for the 26-year-old.

Barcelona are in the market for a central midfielder before the close of the window and after failing to sign Marco Verratti and Ander Herrera, of PSG and Manchester United respectively, have since turned their attention to Seri.

Paulinho was another who the La Liga side tracked, though Guangzhou Evergrande opted against selling the former Spurs star, which has seen Barcelona look towards the Nice star.

Seri would supposedly welcome the chance to sign for Barcelona, while the midfielder has a €40m release clause in his Nice contract.
