Juventus yet to bid for Sevilla star

Juventus are yet to lodge a bid for Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, according to club president Jose Castro.

The Frenchman, who is contracted to the La Liga side until 2020, has attracted interest from Barcelona and Chelsea in recent months, while Juventus are believed to be monitoring his situation at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan closely.

It had been reported the Serie A champions were closing in on a deal for the 28-year-old, whose release clause is set at £35m.

However, Castro is adamant that Sevilla are yet to receive an offer from Juventus for N’Zonzi.

“The first thing to clarify is that Sevilla have yet to receive a formal offer for N'Zonzi, neither from Juventus nor any other club,” Castro told Tuttosport via talkSPORT.

"Sevilla want the player to stay at the club for many more years, otherwise we wouldn't have worried about renewing his contract only a month ago.

"If there really is interest then we'll evaluate it, but one thing must be clear to everyone.

"We have no intention of letting our best players leave and any talks must start from their release clauses.

"Plus, Juventus have never told me that they're interested in N'Zonzi."

N'Zonzi has established himself as a key man for Sevilla and averaged more passes per game (79.8) than any other player in La Liga last season.
