Vertonghen among those to extend Tottenham stay

Tottenham have confirmed that senior stars Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm have agreed deals with the north London side to remain at the club until the end of the season.

The duo's current deal was set to expire on June 30th, unless the club and player had agreed to an extension beyond the June 23rd deadline.

And the club has since confirmed that Vertonghen and Vorm will remain as Spurs players until the final game of the domestic campaign next month.

"We can confirm that defender Jan Vertonghen and goalkeeper Michel Vorm have agreed to extend their existing contracts with the Club until the end of the 2019/20 season," a statement read on Tottenham's official website.

"Both players’ contracts were due to expire at the end of this month and this extension means they will now be available to play for us for the remainder of the current Premier League season."

The north London side have also confirmed that those on loan will remain at their repespective clubs until the campaign draws to a close, adding: "We have also agreed to extend the loans of Danny Rose (Newcastle United), Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton), Jack Clarke and Luke Amos (both QPR) Brandon Austin (Viborg) and Armando Shashoua (Atletico Baleares) until the end of their respective league seasons."

Vertonghen was an unused sub in Tottenham's 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Friday night and is not expected to start when Spurs host West Ham on Tuesday.
