Aston Villa set to land West Ham man on loan

Aston Villa lead the race to sign Robert Snodgrass as Steve Bruce looks to strengthen further before the transfer window closes, the BBC reports.

The Scotland international is deemed surplus to requirements at West Ham, who are willing to cut their losses despite only signing the midfielder for £10m back in January.

Snodgrass has had a difficult time of it for the Hammers since and hasn’t been part of their plans this season, failing to even make the bench for defeats against United and Southampton.

The 29-year-old started just 8 of 15 league appearances for the Londoners last season, failing to get on the scoresheet having struck 7 times in the first half of the campaign to star for Hull.

Now tipped to drop down to the Championship in search of regular playing time, Villa appear to have leapfrogged Sunderland in an attempt to secure Snodgrass’ services on a season-long loan.

The Scot was signed by Steve Bruce at Hull and scored 4 goals and registered 7 assists in 27 appearances under his tutelage to help steer the Tigers to the Premier League in 2016.
