Injured Tottenham star expected to face Liverpool

England manager Gareth Southgate expects Dele Alli to be fit in time for Tottenham’s clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

Alli suffered a slight muscle injury in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Spain and has been ruled out of Tuesday’s friendly against Switzerland.

Southgate has, however, eased fears Alli will miss Tottenham’s huge Premier League match against Liverpool and expects the 22-year-old to feature.

“Alli has just had a minor strain and should be fine for his club at the weekend I would think, but Tuesday’s game will come too quickly,” Sky Sports quote Southgate as saying.

Alli struggled to influence games during the 2018 World Cup but has started the season well for Tottenham.

He has scored once in four games and garnered a solid WhoScored rating of 7.34 in that time. Interestingly, Alli has been most impressive for Tottenham when out of possession.

In fact, not Tottenham player averages more tackles and interceptions combined per game than Alli this season (4.75).
