Manchester United are prepared to battle Liverpool for the signing of highly rated Flamengo midfielder Lucas Paqueta, reports the Daily Mirror.
The 21-year-old is enjoying a fine season with the high flying Brazilian outfit, who are currently fourth in the Brasileirao.
His fine form hasn’t gone unnoticed across the Atlantic either, with a host of European heavyweights keeping their eye on Paqueta, who made his senior debut for Brazil earlier this month.
PSG and Barcelona have been credited with an interest, while Liverpool have been monitoring the youngster’s progress in Brazil.
However, they would face stiff competition from United should Flamengo elect to sell the £35m-rated, who has been linked with a January switch to PSG.
Paqueta has a WhoScored rating of 7.75 this season, which the best of all players in the Brasileirao this term, while four WhoScored man of the match awards is the second hghest return.
If he continues to impress, however, Flamengo would rightly increase his asking price above the reported £35m.
