Tottenham face competition from Dortmund for €15m-rated Ligue 1 teenager
Tottenham are interested in highly rated Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan but face competition from AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, claims RMC Sport.
Jose Mourinho wants to overhaul Tottenham's defensive options for next season with Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose and Serge Aurier all expected to leave.
Simakan has enjoyed a fine breakthrough year for Strasbourg and is expected to leave in the summer despite recently penning a long-term deal with the Ligue 1 side.
The 19-year-old extended his Strasbourg contract until the summer of 2023 at the end of last year but it didn't stop Milan trying to sign the teen in January.
Milan failed with a €15m (£13.1m) bid for Simakan and now a host of other European clubs, including Tottenham and Dortmund, are trailing his signature ahead of the summer.
Simakan has made 19 league appearances for Strasbourg this season and while he has caught the eye the team have curiously struggled when he has started.
In fact, Strasbourg have a far superior win ratio in Ligue 1 this season when Simakan has not started (60%) compared to when he has featured from the off (29.4%).
The teenager, who can play centre-back or right-back, has already demonstrated to be an excellent tackler, however, with an impressive tackle success rate of 81.8% in Ligue 1.
