Spurs omit Adebayor from Europa League squad

Emmanuel Adebayor is facing the prospect of playing no football this season after being left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s 25-man squad for the Europa League.

Adebayor, 31, looked set to leave White Hart Lane this summer but saw moves to Aston Villa and West Ham collapse due to his excessive wage demands.

The out-of-favour striker will now see out the final year of his contract at Spurs on his £100,000-a-week wages and continue to train with the development squad.

The Togo international only completed 814 minutes of a possible 3,420 in the Premier League last season and isn’t likely to get anywhere near that figure this term.
