Chelsea star rising up Premier League form rankings as City duo drop out

There have been some big changes in our Premier League form rankings following gameweek 8, with three players dropping out of the top ten, including Raheem Sterling and Rodri following Manchester City's shock defeat to Wolves.

There are new faces, meanwhile, from Liverpool and Aston Villa, while one Chelsea star rises eight places as his excellent start to the season continued in victory over Southampton.

10. Sadio Mane (Liverpool) - 7.56 weighted rating

Following a fifth Premier League goal of the season in Liverpool's last gasp victory over Leicester, Mane climbs two places and onto the leaderboard this time around. That's four goals in the Senegalese forward's last five league outings as his importance to the Reds continues to grow.

9. Anwar El Ghazi (Aston Villa) - 7.57 weighted rating

A new qualifier this week, El Ghazi has reclaimed his place in the Villa side and has now had a direct hand in four goals in his last three appearances. That tally includes two assists in the 5-1 victory over Norwich, following on from a sublime finish against Burnley.

8. Sebastien Haller (West Ham) - 7.62 weighted rating

Up one place this week, Haller ended a three-match goal drought in the league by finishing off a sweeping West Ham move to gain the lead against Crystal Palace. Across his last six league outings the Frenchman has brought others into play superbly, winning 48 aerial duels.

7. Joel Matip (Liverpool) - 7.63 weighted rating

A non-mover this week having missed the victory over Leicester due to injury, though he still qualifies having started two of Liverpool's last three league matches, as well as six of the last eight available.

6. Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester) - 7.64 weighted rating

Down one place this week, Ndidi put in another solid display for Leicester but ulitmately ended up on the losing side, despite completing a match-high of five dribbles.

5. John McGinn (Aston Villa) - 7.71 weighted rating

Also demoted one spot, McGinn took a back seat having been the star man for Villa this season as his midfield teammates took centre stage at Carrow Road. The Scot wasn't on the scoresheet in the 5-1 win despite firing off three shots, though he did break up play with three tackles.

4. Felipe Anderson (West Ham) - 7.73 weighted rating

Rising four places this week, Anderson was unlucky to be on the losing side this weekend having put in a real shift against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian completed three dribbles but his defensive work really stood out, producing more tackles than any other Premier League player in gameweek eight, following on from back-to-back assists against Bournemouth and Manchester United.

3. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) - 7.73 weighted rating

A new qualifier this week having been rested last, Aguero had a game to forget against Wolves having scored in each of his previous six Premier League starts for the champions.

2. Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) - 7.76 weighted rating

The highest climber in this week's top ten, Abraham is up from tenth to second having joined Aguero at the top of the Premier League scoring charts with his eighth goal of the season. The England international earned the man of the match award in Chelsea's 4-1 win at Southampton as a result, with each of his eight goals coming in his last six league starts.

1. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 7.95 weighted rating

Retaining top spot for the time being at least, Kevin De Bruyne was sorely missed by Manchester City as they fell to a second defeat of the season at Wolves. Each of said losses have come in the two matches that the Belgian has not started this season, this time owing to injury.

Qualifying Rules

Only ratings from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in two of the last three league matches and started at least six of the last eight available.
