Manchester United to finish league in style on Yahoo! Fantasy Football

The final day of the Premier League season is upon us and unfortunately there isn’t much to look forward to.

Manchester City have already wrapped up the league and the top four is all but secure, while the bottom three is unlikely to change.

Several teams are still in with a shout of finishing in the top half of the table but that isn’t exciting for the fans.

Nevertheless, it’s the final instalment of Yahoo! Fantasy Football for the 2017/18 campaign and the WhoScored Expert has picked an XI for the final 10 matches on Sunday.

Goalkeeper – SERGIO ROMERO (MANCHESTER UNITED)

With the golden glove award already secured, Jose Mourinho has confirmed David De Gea will have the weekend off and Sergio Romero will make his first appearance since March.

Romero is arguably the best back-up goalkeeper in the Premier League and has kept clean sheets in each of his last four appearances for the Red Devils.

The Argentina international will be confident of keeping another clean sheet this weekend when United welcome Watford to Old Trafford.

The Hornets haven’t won an away league match since November and haven’t even scored in their last eight on the road.

Defender – DALEY BLIND (MANCHESTER UNITED)

Jose Mourinho also confirmed after Thursday’s 0-0 draw with West Ham that Daley Blind would start against Watford.

Blind is expected to leave United in the summer and this will likely prove his final appearance for the club.

The Netherlands international has dropped completely out of favour this season but will have the chance to remind potential suitors of his qualities this weekend.

Given Watford’s remarkable away day woes, it shouldn’t be too difficult for Blind to impress.

Defender – JAMES TARKOWSKI (BURNLEY)

Burnley are already guaranteed to finish seventh regardless of Sunday’s results but they will be keen to finish the season on a high.

The Clarets face Bournemouth on Sunday and the Cherries have only won one of their last 14 away matches in all competitions.

James Tarkowski has been a standout performer for Burnley this season and he will want to put in one more solid display before Gareth Southgate names his England squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Defender – PATRICK VAN AANHOLT (CRYSTAL PALACE)

Roy Hodgson has done a sensational job as Crystal Palace manager, steering the Eagles well clear of the drop.

The former England manager has also helped improve players, notably James Tomkins and Patrick van Aanholt.

Both have been key at the back for Palace in recent months and they have even thrived in the opposition’s penalty box as well.

Van Aanholt has scored four goals in the league this season and they have all come in his last nine appearances.

Palace host West Brom on Sunday and the Baggies have already been relegated and have nothing left to play for.

Midfielder – RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK (CRYSTAL PALACE)

It’s not just in defence where things have improved for Palace under Hodgson, but also further forward.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is finally getting regular playing time and there are suggestions Southgate will take the talented midfielder to Russia for the World Cup.

The Chelsea loan-star, like Tarkowski, will want to impress Southgate and this is his last chance to do so.

The 22-year-old certainly has momentum at the moment, having scored or assisted in his last two appearances for the club.

Midfielder – LUKA MILIVOJEVIC (CRYSTAL PALACE)

It’s also been a successful season for Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic, who is the club’s top scorer in the Premier League.

The Serbia international has netted 10 goals for the Eagles this term and will always be in with a chance of picking up Yahoo! Fantasy Football points as he is their penalty taker.

In fact, no player in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more penalties than the 27-year-old this season (7).

Midfielder  - DELE ALLI (TOTTENHAM)

It’s been a peculiar season for Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli, in that he hasn’t been at his best but has still weighed in with his fair share of goals and assists.

The England international has scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in the league this season.

Tottenham need to beat Leicester on Sunday to confirm third place, which means Mauricio Pochettino will play his strongest available XI.

Midfielder – LEROY SANE (MANCHESTER CITY)

A hat-trick of assists in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Brighton means Leroy Sane has drawn level with Kevin De Bruyne on 15 assists in the Premier League this season.

Manchester City play Southampton on Sunday and will be keen to finish of what has been a record-breaking season in style, with Sane expected to start for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Southampton have the second worst home record in the division this season and it’s unlikely they will have the chance to improve that against champions City.

Utility – ANTHONY MARTIAL (MANCHESTER UNITED)

Mourinho also confirmed Anthony Martial will start against Watford on Sunday after the France international was named a substitute against West Ham last time out.

Martial’s future is up in the air at United but he will at least have the chance to get minutes under his belt this weekend, with the aim of reaching double figures for goals in the league this season.

Striker – PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG (ARSENAL)

For someone that arrived for such a big fee, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s performances haven’t got the credit they deserve.

Joining midway through the season, the Gabon international has quickly racked up nine goals in 12 league appearances for the Gunners.

In fact, the 28-year-old has scored and assisted 12 goals in his last nine appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Striker – MOHAMED SALAH (LIVERPOOL)

Mohamed Salah has enjoyed a stunning first season at Liverpool and will hope to rediscover the goalscoring touch this weekend ahead of this month’s Champions League final.

The Egypt international is without a goal in three matches, which is remarkably only the second time that has happened this season.

Salah has scored 31 times in the Premier League this season and only needs one more to be the outright record holder for the most goals in a 38-match season.
