Ligue 1 round-up: Former Chelsea man lands a perfect 10 as Lyon dismantle Marseille

Former Chelsea attacker and current Lyon star Bertrand Traore is our Ligue 1 player of the week after helping himself to a perfect 10 in a 4-2 win over Marseille. In what was the most hotly anticipated game in France at the weekend, Lyon were superb as they put their top-four rivals to the sword, following up their 2-1 Champions League win at Manchester City in impressive fashion.

Traore was the star of the show as he scored two of Lyon’s four goals in the victory at Parc OL. His two goals came from three shots, while two successful dribbles helped him gain a perfect 10. He worked hard off the ball, too, as he made seven tackles and one interception to not give the Marseille backline a moment’s rest in a stand out display.

He wasn’t the only Lyon player to excel this weekend either, with teammate Nabil Fekir also making the cut in the Ligue 1 team of the week. The France international followed up his man of the match display at Manchester City with a fine showing against Marseille, as he scored one from six shots and provided one assist from five key passes to return a WhoScored rating of 8.60.

Rounding off the top performers in Ligue 1 is PSG right-back Thomas Meunier. The Belgian has wasted no time in doing his best to consolidate a regular spot in the PSG XI as he put in a man of the match display in a 3-1 win at Rennes, gaining a WhoScored rating of 8.57. Like Fekir, Meunier scored once and assisted once, those coming from one shot and two key passes, respectively, in a superb showing from right-back.

Footing the player ratings ranking this week is Marseille centre-back Duje Caleta-Car. Not only was the Croatian part of a backline that shipped four times in Lyon, but he made just one tackle and failed to win an aerial duel. His dismissal late on compounded a miserable second league start for the 21-year-old, who gained a WhoScored rating of just 4.73 in gameweek six.
