Sancho caps superstar performance with spot in Premier League team of the week

Liverpool gained ground in the title race as they earned a 3-1 win over Norwich and have Tottenham to thank as Spurs defeated league leaders Manchester City 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium with the pair represented in the best XI. Manchester United were also victorius at the weekend, defeating Leeds 4-2 on Sunday to have two players make the cut, but it's Southampton who dominate the team of the week after they beat Everton 2-0 on home turf.

Jordan Pickford (Everton) - 8.47

Everton may have fallen to a 2-0 loss at Southampton on Saturday afternoon, yet it could have been far worse for the Toffees were it not for Jordan Pickford between the sticks. That's because Pickford saved nine of the 11 shots on target he faced at St. Mary's to help earn a WhoScored rating of 8.47.

Valentino Livramento (Southampton) - 8.39

Southampton are the dominant side in the Premier League team of the week with no fewer than four Saints players making the cut. Interestingly, all four feature in defence with Valentino Livramento kicking off the quartet. Livramento provided his first assist of the season against Everton, turning provider for Shane Long late on. That assist came from one of two key passes, while four tackles, three clearances and two interceptions helped yield a WhoScored rating of 8.39.

Mohammed Salisu (Southampton) - 7.73

Mohammed Salisu has been a revelation for Saints this season and did enough to return a WhoScored rating of 7.73 on Saturday, marking one of his best rated performances of the campaign. The Everton attack had no joy in getting the better of Salisu as he, like Livramento, made four tackles, three clearances and two interceptions to play his part in a clean sheet victory.

Jan Bednarek (Southampton) - 7.65

Salisu's centre-back teammate features at the heart of the defence in the best XI. Jan Bednarek put in a performance warranting a WhoScored rating of 7.65 as the 25-year-old dominated in the air, winning all five aerial duels contested. With four interceptions, two tackles and two clearances to his name, Bednarek is a worthy inclusion in the side.

Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton) - 8.49

Rounding off the Southampton-heavy backline is Kyle Walker-Peters. The full-back earned the WhoScored man of the match award with a rating of 8.49 against Everton as he pressed forward well for the south coast side. Walker-Peters may have failed to contribute to a goal, but it wasn't for want of trying as he managed four shots and two key passes, while the Toffees struggled to contain the 24-year-old, who completed five dribbles.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 8.84

With a rating of 8.84, Mohamed Salah is the WhoScored Premier League player of the week. The Egyptian scored his 17th league goal of the season in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Norwich, that coming from eight shots, more than any other player this gameweek. Salah was unfortunate not to add an assist as he managed six key passes, while four dribbles capped a superb display from the Reds sensation.

Josh Brownhill (Burnley) - 8.75

Burnley ended an 11-game winless run in fine fashion as they smashed Brighton 3-0 at the AMEX on Saturday. Josh Brownhill is the first of two Clarets representatives as he earned the WhoScored man of the match award with a rating of 8.75. The midfielder doubled Burnley's advantage shortly before the break, hitting the back of the net with one of two shots, but it was his work off the ball that really caught the eye. Indeed, the 26-year-old made five tackles and three interceptions as Burnley secured a much-needed win.

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) - 8.27

Manchester United earned a 4-2 win at Leeds on Sunday with Bruno Fernandes excellent in the victory at Elland Road. Fernandes doubled United's advantage shortly before the break, bagging his ninth league goal of the season in the process, and then turned provider for Anthony Elanga late on, those coming from respective returns of three shots and two key passes to help land a WhoScored rating of 8.27.

Jadon Sancho (Manchester United) - 8.47

The star man from Elland Road, Jadon Sancho registered a pair of assists against Leeds on Sunday, providing for Bruno Fernandes and Fred either side of half time. The brace of assists came from three key passes, while additional returns of three successful dribbles and one tackle saw Sancho garner a WhoScored rating of 8.47.

Harry Kane (Tottenham) - 8.68

Tottenham earned the result of the weekend as they played their part in blowing the title race open once more. Harry Kane played a starring role in Spurs' 3-2 win at league leaders Manchester City as he bagged a second half brace to wrap up the three points at the Etihad Stadium, finding a way past Ederson with two of three shots. Kane was also instrumental in Dejan Kulusevski's opener, playing the pass for Son Heung-Min to latch onto as he came away from the clash with a WhoScored rating of 8.68.

Wout Weghorst (Burnley) - 8.43

Wout Weghorst joins Harry Kane on the frontline as he earned a WhoScored rating of 8.43 in Burnley's 3-0 win at Brighton. The towering Dutchman scored his first goal for the Clarets on Saturday, finding a way past Robert Sanchez midway through the first half, and followed that up with the assist for Josh Brownhill five minutes before the interval. Those came from respective returns of one shot and two key passes to contribute towards Weghorst's inclusion.
