Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has revealed he is looking to enjoy his best ever season in front of goal as he looks to close the gap between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Griezmann, 24, netted 22 times in La Liga last season in a stunning debut campaign for Atletico following his £24m move from Real Sociedad 12 months ago.
The France international is already underway in the league (1) this time around and has set 25 goals as his benchmark this year in La Liga.
“I do not know the numbers of goals that I will score, but I want to score more than 25 goals this season and beat last season’s total. I’m working to reach Messi and Ronaldo," Griezmann told AS.
The French forward still has some way to go in order to surpass the feats of Messi and Ronaldo, who scored 43 and 48 league goals respectively last season.
