Chelsea and Monaco still haven’t agreed fee for Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas paid a tearful farewell to Chelsea supporters on Saturday but Monaco still haven’t agreed a fee for the Spanish midfielder, claims the London Evening Standard.

The 31-year-old has entered the final six months of his existing Chelsea deal and Maurizio Sarri’s side are not interested in matching Fabregas’ contract demands.

Fabregas missed a penalty against Nottingham Forest on Saturday before being reduced to tears when Sarri subbed him off with five minutes remaining in their 2-0 triumph, a match billed his final appearance for the club.

Chelsea have earmarked Cagliari youngster Nicolo Barella and former Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes as potential replacements for Fabregas but Monaco still haven’t agreed a fee with the west London outfit.

Fabregas has already agreed personal terms with Monaco on a two-year deal and will receive a substantial signing-on fee worth £9m, yet the Ligue 1 side are unwilling to match Chelsea’s £10m asking price.

The Spaniard has only started one Premier League match this season but did feature in five of Chelsea’s six Europa League group games.

Of players that have made at least three appearances in the Europa League this season, Fabregas averages the most passes per 90 (129).
