Arsenal target teases Premier League switch

Arsenal have been given greater encouragement in their pursuit of Jakub Jankto after the Udinese midfielder revealed he will not stay in Serie A his entire career.

The Gunners are expected to battle AC Milan for Jankto’s signature in January as both sides look to bolster their midfield options.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side are considered the frontrunners for his signature and Jankto has refused to rule out a move away in January.

“The rumours about me? I have to stay focused on Udinese, we’re only in December,” he told Sky after Udinese’s win over Crotone on Monday night, via Football Italia.

“The Premier League? I’ve always said I don’t want to stay in Italy for my whole career, but now I’m playing with Udinese every week and it’s important for my growth.”

Regular first-team football could prove an obstacle in Arsenal’s attempts to prise the Czech Republic international away from Udinese in January.

Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey are considered Wenger’s first choice options in central midfield and even Jack Wilshere has failed to break into the first-team.

Jankto has scored three goals in his last two appearances, having only netted once in his first 12 matches this term.
