West Brom looking to keep Berahino

West Brom director of football Richard Garlick says the club have no plans to sell Saido Berahino when the transfer window opens in January.

Berahino, 22, was strongly linked with a move to Spurs over the summer and the north London outfit will supposedly rekindle their interest in January to ease the pressure on Harry Kane.

However, Garlick insists West Brom have no intention of entertaining offers in January and are looking to keep their star asset.

“The club’s position remains unchanged,” Garlick is quoted as saying by the Daily Star. “We can’t stop people if they want to bid, that is up to them.

“But he is not a player we have identified as one we want to move on. The jungle drums are not sounding.

“There is always going to speculation in the press, but we have not had any discussions or been approached.”

Berahino’s situation appears to have unsettled him so far this season, with his performances a far cry from what forced him into England contention at the end of last season.

The England Under-21 international has still managed three goals in the Premier League this season, but he has failed to garner a WhoScored rating above 6.41 in the other eight fixtures he has played this season.
