Chelsea will now turn their attention to a backup striker following their big money capture of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, reports the Independent.
The Blues confirmed the arrival of the Spain international this week after it seemed a switch to Manchester United was on the cards earlier in the year.
Chelsea are beginning to make headway in the transfer market having signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko prior to Morata’s move to Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League side will now look to secure the services of a backup forward for the former Real Madrid star, even with Michy Batshuayi an option for head coach Antonio Conte, though the Belgian is set to leave on loan this summer.
Fernando Llorente was a target for Conte in January, with the pair having worked together during their respective time with Juventus, while Crystal Palace’s star forward Christian Benteke is another option for Chelsea.
However, Chelsea would have to stump up £30m to sign Llorente, with the former Sevilla striker a key man for Swansea under Paul Clement, which the champions have so far been unwilling to rise to.
Benteke is interested in a move to Chelsea, but is not prepared to play as a second choice striker in a World Cup year.
