Pochettino believes Kane can be one of the best

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has lavished praise on star Harry Kane, suggesting he can become one of the best strikers in the world.

Kane emerged as first choice frontman at White Hart Lane last season and went on to score 21 league goals, a figure bettered only by Sergio Agüero (26).

The England international failed to net for the national team at the recent European U21 Championship, but is expected to replicate his league form for Spurs in the upcoming campaign.

And Pochettino believes the 22-year-old has what it takes to emerge as one of the finest in his position in football.

"Harry can manage the pressure," Pochettino is quoted as saying in The Times ahead of the Audi Cup.

"He is young, but he is very mature. He is in a very good way to become one of the best strikers in the world."

Pochettino hinted that there had been a big money off for Kane over the summer, but that the Spurs star is committed to the north London side.

"Any doubts about his commitment are gone.

"He is delighted to stay. He is a big supporter of the club. He is very happy and we are very happy he is with us. He's excited to start the season with us.

"We have very ambitious players. We need to keep this mentality, try to build a tough and very strong group for the next few years to try and achieve important things."

Manchester United had been credited with an interest in Kane and reportedly had a £40m bid for the Englishman turned down.
