Arsenal striker Lacazette touted for sensational summer exit

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette could be sold at the end of the season following the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to former Gooner Emmanuel Petit.

Arsene Wenger’s side made Lacazette the club’s most expensive signing in the summer after shelling out £46.5m to sign the Frenchman from Lyon, but eclipsed that with Aubameyang last month.

The Gunners agreed a £56m fee with Borussia Dortmund for the Gabon international and his arrival has already raised serious questions about Lacazette’s place in the team.

Lacazette has scored nine goals in the Premier League this season but Wenger conceded earlier in the season that he still has to adapt physically to the demands of English football.

The 26-year-old has been subbed off in 15 of the 22 Premier League matches he has started this season and was even demoted to the bench for last weekend’s win over Everton in favour of Aubameyang.

Things are even so bad that Petit, who spent three years as an Arsenal player, believes Lacazette could even be sold this summer.

“Lacazette is under massive pressure,” he told The Sun. “He needs to improve or face the exit this summer.

“Aubameyang’s signing tells me it might already be too late. Arsene Wenger’s belief in Lacazette has gone.”

Lacazette has particularly struggled away from the Emirates. At home, the Arsenal No.9 has garnered a WhoScored rating of 7.57, scoring seven times and registering two assists.

However, on the road his WhoScored rating drops to 6.50, managing just two goals and one assist in 13 appearances.
