Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has been approached about taking over as Barcelona manager from Luis Enrique at the end of the season, reports Catalunya Radio, via AS.
Blanc has been out of work since being sacked as PSG manager at the end of last season but is the latest candidate to emerge on Barcelona’s shortlist as the search continues for their next head coach.
Current Barcelona manager Enrique announced in March that he would be stepping down from his position at the club at the end of the season and there have been plenty of names thrown in the ring to succeed him.
Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli was the hot favourite at the time but he will return to international management with Argentina at the end of the season, while Athletic Club boss Ernesto Valverde remains the favourite.
However, Barcelona have reportedly now been in contract with Blanc, who spent 12 months as a player for the club between 1996-97. Blanc finished his three years in charge of PSG with a win ratio of 72.8%.
