Leicester have announced the arrival of Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez on a four-year deal running until the summer of 2023.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have reportedly agreed a £16m deal with their Premier League counterparts after matching Perez’s release clause.
The 25-year-old is the first signing Leicester have made this summer and the Spaniard is expected to be joined by Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans.
Tielemans spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester and the Foxes are on the brink of securing his permanent signature in a club-record £40m deal.
Perez has spent the last five years at Newcastle but has been angling for a move away from St.James’ Park for the last few months.
The Spaniard was heavily linked with a move to Valencia but Leicester have won the race for his signature.
Last season was by far Perez’s best in the Premier League, as he finished with 12 goals and two assists.
He concluded the campaign in particularly impressive fashion with nine goals or assists in his last nine league matches, including a hat-trick against Southampton and goal against Leicester.
