West Ham determined to keep Lanzini from Fenerbahce’s clutches
West Ham plan to offer Manuel Lanzini a new long-term deal to fend off interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce this summer, claims The Daily Mirror.
Lanzini is a fan favourite at West Ham but has emerged as a top transfer target for Fenerbahce.
The Turkish giants are planning sweeping changes this summer after they were embroiled in a relegation battle for most of last season.
Lanzini missed the majority of 2018/19 due to a serious knee injury but is still seen as an integral part of West Ham’s future.
The 26-year-old is effectively tied down to West Ham until the summer of 2022 but Manuel Pellegrini’s side are planning a new five-year deal for the Argentine.
Fenerbahce will have to reassess their options, having previously identified Lanzini as their ideal choice to replace the departing Mathieu Valbuena.
Despite being limited to just 10 appearances in the Premier League last season, Lanzini has still registered at least 26 more key passes than any other West Ham player since August 2016 (102).
