Chelsea target not looking to leave Barcelona

Philippe Coutinho does not want to leave Barcelona and is prepared to fight for his future, claims The Daily Mail.

The Brazil international completed a £145m move to Barcelona just over 12 months ago but he has fallen down the pecking order at the club this season.

Reports have even emerged that Barcelona are open to selling Coutinho at the end of the season in order to balance their books.

Barcelona will welcome Frankie de Jong in the summer after agreeing a £65m fee with Ajax last month and the suggestion is that at least one high profile player will need to make way.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Coutinho as a result of De Jong’s impending arrival but the 26-year-old has not given up hope of salvaging his Barcelona career.

Coutinho has made 20 league appearances this season but only 13 have been starts. The Barcelona No.7 has scored four goals in that time and provided two assists.

Since joining Barcelona, the Brazilian playmaker has scored 12 goals in 38 league appearances for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
