Bayern Munich make approach for Championship defender
Bayern Munich have approached Reading about a shock deal for left-back Omar Richards, claims The Daily Telegraph.
Richards has entered the final six months of his current Reading deal and is free to discuss a Bosman transfer with foreign clubs.
The Bundesliga giants have scouted Richards regularly this season and even informed Reading they want to speak with the 22-year-old.
Bayern have already prised highly rated 17-year-old Jamal Musiala from Chelsea in the last 12 months and have now set their sights on another English talent.
With David Alaba set to leave Bayern at the end of the season, Lucas Hernandez may be required to covert fully to centre-back leaving them short at full-back.
Alphonso Davies is currently Bayern's first-choice left-back but Richards would provide cover with Hernandez potentially required elsewhere.
Richards could even develop into a first-choce option in that position, given Davies is naturally a winger.
Of players to have attempted at least 50 tackles in the top two tiers of English football this season, only Aaron Wan Bissaka (88%) has a better success rate than Richards (85%).
