Bayer Leverkusen defender Wendell admits he would ‘walk to Spain’ to play for Real Madrid amid mounting interest from the La Liga giants.
Madrid are reportedly lining up the £35m-rated left-back for a summer move as they look to add strength to the left side of their defence.
Paris Saint-Germain are also suggested to be interested in Wendell’s services, but the Brazilian only has eyes on a move to the Spanish capital.
“I’m very happy [about Madrid’s interest], but I can’t forget that I’m not there yet,” he told AS, via Football Espana.
“I’m still at Bayer Leverkusen, so it gives me stimulus to play even better and means their interest doesn’t only continue but increases and, hopefully, leads to them signing me.
“For any player, regardless of their nationality, playing for Real Madrid is a dream. I would walk to Spain to play for Real Madrid.”
Since the start of the season, Wendell has completed at least 14 more tackles than any other player for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga (71).
