West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has dismissed reports linking the club with a surprise January loan move for Juventus left-back Patrice Evra.
Evra has lost his place at Juventus to Alex Sandro this season and there had been suggestions the Serie A champions were willing to offer him a short-term return to the Premier League in January.
The 35-year-old spent eight years with Manchester United before moving to Juventus in 2014 and the France international has been a success at the Italian giants, although Sandro is now the future of the club at left-back.
West Ham desperately need to strengthen their defence when the January transfer window opens but Bilic has put an end to suggestions Evra could be on the verge of joining the club.
“We are the club that is linked with the most players in Europe!” Sky Sports quote Bilic as saying. “Every player that is available, it is always West Ham. Ninety-five per cent of that is not true, definitely not true with Evra.
“OK, he is a great player, but at that position we are well-covered. We are not going to panic and will try and get a couple of players. We want players who have Premier League experience.
Evra has only started three league games this season, while his replacement, Alex Sandro, is currently Juventus’ highest rated player in Serie A (7.59).
