Real Madrid holding up Reguilon's move to Manchester United

Manchester United's pursuit of Sergio Reguilon is being held up by Real Madrid insisting on a buy-back clause, claims The Daily Mirror.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign Reguilon to provide competition for Luke Shaw and allow Brandon Williams to back over to right-back.

Reguilon emerged as one of the best left-backs in Europe's top five leagues during his loan stint at Sevilla last season.

The Spain international has returned to Madrid but is deemed surplus to requirements by Zinedine Zidane with Marcelo and Ferland Mendy already at the club.

Madrid are keen to offload Reguilon and have offered the 23-year-old to United but want a buy-back clause included in any sale.

United are refusing to accept any such terms for the £27m-rated left-back and talks are now at a standstill with the LaLiga champions.

Reguilon finished the 2019/20 LaLiga campaign in the WhoScored Team of the Season (7.10 rating) and registered an assist against United in the Europa League semi-final.
